That is pretty cool. Still not voting for her if (when) she runs for President, but good job on this thing.

Question. How is Raising minimum wage cool?

Anyone that knows anything about Economics would tell you it'll cause more unemployment and inflation.

How is that a good thing?

$5.15 hour x 40 hours per week = $206

$206 x 52 weeks in the year = $10,712

Where the &*$@ can you live in the U.S. on $10,712 a year?

Minimum wage hasn't even come close to keeping up with inflation, it hasn't been raised in forever, and yet every year those fat bastards vote themselves a nice raise. I have worked minimum wage before, and it sucks ass. It has to suck even worse nowadays - I mean, what percentage of $10,712 a year do you think would go for just gas to get to your shithole job?

Regardless. You start being required to pay your employees more and wont hire as many. Hence more unemployment. I don't understand how that's hard to see. Heck look at Oregons unemployment rate.

When the minimum wage is raised. Consumers have more to spend so an increase in demand comes with an increase in prices.

All real basic stuff really. Yes it's bad that they raise their own salaries and I don't agree with it. But it happens.. We get shafted life goes on. Raising the minimum wage everywhere would only cause more problems.

Well some people can't see past the "yay more money for me" aspect. In the long run everything has ups and downs.

Anyways this does not change my life, I live in Canadia where $6.50/h is suposed to earn you a living.

Isn't the $6.50 per hour rate only for the first 500 (or so) hours of employment - as a "training wage"? I thought minimum wage in BC was $8.00/hr.

Here's the real problem with her proposal - linking minimum wage to congressional pay is merely a way of making congressional pay raises more palatable to people:

Congressman A: "People on Minimum wage aren't making enough to get by on."

Congressman B: "Yeah, they're really having a tough time making ends meet."

Congressman C: "Let's give ourselves a 20% pay raise. that'll bring the minimum wage up!"

Minimum Wage Earners A - ZZZZZ: YEAAHHH! I could use a 20% pay increase.

Congressman D: Us congressmen are making too much as it is, we need to spend the taxpayer's money more prudently."

Minimum Wage Earners A - ZZZZZ: Boooo! Congressman D is against the lower classes! Get rid of that bozo!

If she really wanted to put forward an altruistic bill to help increase the minimum wage, she'd propose a bill that would link the minimum wage with annual cost of living increases. (Inflation rate)

And if she really wanted to come up with a more palatable way to justify congressional pay raises, she'd propose that congressional pay raises would be determined by the voters, instead of congress!
